Tea tasting: Heron’s Meadow Farm and Tea: Sykesville’s Kate Pearl on Main Tea Room
Heron’s Meadow Farm (1596 Daisy Road, Woodbine, MD; 410-499-8156), in Western Howard County, is Maryland’s first tea farm as well as home to BLTeas and MudPi Studios. The Farm is host to many inspirational views, wildlife, flavorful teas, and handcrafted stoneware pottery. We will visit the farm during the harvest season, gathering at 11 a.m. for a talk by the owner about growing, harvesting, and processing tea, as well as a chance to sample teas. There will be time to shop in the store and buy tea grown on the farm.
At around 12:30 p.m., we will depart for the Kate Pearl on Main Tea Room (7540 Main St., Sykesville, MD 21784; 410-549-7676), which is a 15–20 minute drive. The Club has visited this tea room in the past but since then Kate Pearl has bought the tea room as its second location. The full tea includes: Soup or salad (chef’s choice), scone, sandwiches, sweets, and sorbet to end the tea.
