SUMMARY:Bus Trip: Winterthur Museum & Wee Fancy Tea\, Wednesday\, Sept. 20
DESCRIPTION:BUS TRIP BROCHURE\nWe arrive at 10 a.m. at the Winterthur Museum\, nestled in the heart of Delaware’s beautiful Brandywine Valley. It is known for its magnificent collection of American decorative arts with items displayed throughout Francis du Pont’s former home and showcased in permanent and rotating gallery spaces. We are fortunate to have the opportunity to view the Anne Lowe exhibit\, who designed the wedding dress worn by Jacqueline Bouvier when she married John F. Kennedy in 1953. This is the largest exhibition of her work to date\, featuring 40 iconic gowns\, many that have never been on public display and will illuminate her evolution as a designer from the 1920s to the 1960s. \nWe arrive at 1:30 p.m. at Wee Fancy Tea\, run by a mother-daughter team with roots in Yorkshire\, England. Committed to serving an English-style tea\, everything is made fresh. We will be indulged with a Queen’s Tea that includes four tea sandwiches (roast beef\, chicken salad\, cucumber and egg salad); four different dessert scones with Devonshire cream and homemade preserves; and unlimited tea. \n*Cost: $110\, club members; $120\, guests/non-members\nMobility: Trip goers will be required to walk to and from locations and at the museum. SUMMARY:One-day April Bus Trip: A D.C. Experience\, April 3
DESCRIPTION:Cherry Blossoms\, Luncheon Cruise\, Gardens\, Tea & More\nEnjoy a two-hour luncheon cruise experience on board the all-glass Odyssey. Take in monumental views of Washington\, D.C.\, delectable dining\, and a sophisticated ambiance. After the cruise\, we will visit the U.S. Botanic Gardens\, a museum with living treasures of the plant world. The towering leaves\, graceful flowers\, delicate seeds\, and exotic fruits of plants at their peak are displayed artfully throughout the historic Conservatory. This is a selfguided experience. \nWe end our day with a visit to Teaism for tea and dessert. Founded in 1996\, the tea house’s goal is to make exquisite loose leaf tea accessible to all. In a time and place where tea is too often a dark powder in a bag with a string\, these tea enthusiasts wanted to highlight the beautiful diversity of the camellia sinensis plant. To accompany the teas\,and to highlight the cuisines of countries where teas are grown\, Teaism\, in addition to desserts\, serves curries\, bento boxes\, and other Asianinspired meals. \nDepartures:\n\n8 a.m. Weis Markets\, Linglestown Rd.\, Harrisburg\, PA\n8:45 a.m. Queensgate Shopping Plaza\, Springwood Rd.\, York\, PA\n9:15 a.m. Park & Ride\, Parkton\, MD\n\nReturn (approximate):\n\n7 p.m.\, Parkton & Ride\n7:30 p.m.\, York\n8:15 p.m.\, Harrisburg\n\n*Please note: Payment and reservations are made directly with the bus company.
